Ideally, you would have a static IP address from your ISP. However, most ISP's offer Internet access plans with a dynamic IP address. Of course, with an IP address that changes on a regular basis, it is somewhat difficult for outside users to locate where your network is.

To overcome this hurdle you can subscribe to a Dynamic DNS provider that can pick up when your IP address changes and update its records to point to the new address automatically. With Smart Static a dynamic DNS client runs on your server which detects when your external IP address changes. Your server then publishes this change so that your external DNS records are updated.

Smart Static allows your Smart-Net server to be assigned a static name which is regularly updated with the IP address of your Internet connection. You will then be able to use an easy to remember web address to remotely access your server from home. Once your server has a Smart Static assigned our standard service fee of $15.00 +GST per month applies, charged out 12 months in advance.
